Canada announces fund for flood hit Jammu and Kashmir

Canada’s Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Human Rights Deepak Obhrai visited Jammu and Kashmir to announce Canada Fund for local initiatives support to Global Medic which is an NGO providing flood-hit communities with water purification devices.

GlobalMedic’s previous Missions in India include flood response in Bihar in October, 2013, response to Cyclone Phailin in October, 2013, monsoon response in Uttarakhand in July, 2013, flood response in Assam in October, 2012, and flood response in Orissa in December, 2011.

Global Medic is a Canadian non-governmental organization that responds to disasters with a Rescue Unit, Water Purification Unit and an Emergency Medical Unit.

It is part of the David McAntony Gibson Foundation (DAGF) that was created in 1998 in honour of David McAntony Gibson, a remarkable person who believed in taking the time to help those around him both near and far.

In keeping with David’s spirit, DAGF is designed to help those in need around the world by providing relief supplies and equipment. (ANI)
