KOLKATA: Shahi Imam Maulana Noor-ur-Rehman Barkati’s shocking disclosure caught on tape saying that he can ‘influence Muslim votes in favour of the BJP with money.’
In a sting operation done by the English Channel Times Now and aired on Friday, Barkati confessed that if the BJP wants Muslim votes, then they have to spend money and he can ‘influence’ 25 lakh Muslim votes in favor of BJP for 5 crore rupees only.’
He goes on to add that, “BJP has a lot of cash and they should give it to ‘fakirs like me’. I will distribute it to the media for publicity.”
Once the Shahi Imam of Tipu Sultan Mosque, Barkati further said that if the BJP approaches him, he would take out rallies for manipulating and influencing voters.
“They should give me money. I just want money. I am openly saying it. I will rally Muslims behind them” and at least 4-5 lakh people mobilize in the rally. “Of course, they will convert into votes. The government will shake.”
The Imam also made shocking claims that the biggest Imam is ‘Maya Imam’. “If ‘Maya Imam’ is there, both Barkati and Bukhari will come.”
