We can banish drought by conservation of every drop of water: Jupally

Lamenting that the country has failed to develop awareness on the need to conserve water resources even after seven decades of independence, Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Jupalli Krishna Rao today stressed the urgent need to take up the issue on the lines of a movement.

Speaking at the State level workshop on “Mission Water Conservation – Ulitisation of Natural Resources”  here on Thursday, Jupalli said the chronic drought conditions would be prevented only by conservation of precious water resources. Reminding that leaders like Anna Hazare had strived to banish drought, the minister said, “We can achieve better results if we succeed in conserving every drop of water” he  said, adding that Kerala State had done this.

The minister also observed that there will be tremendous results if every house has water absorption pit and every acre of land a farm pond.  He said the infant State of Telangana stood at No. 1 in the country by launching the historic Harithaharam, Mission Kakatiya and other programs. However, this unique distinction goes to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who was tirelessly working for the welfare of the people. (NSS)
