Hyderabad, February 28: The Confederation of Ayurvedic Industries (CAI), a body formed recently, has decided to take up an intensive campaign to increase awareness among people about the benefits of the alternative system of medicine and promote its patronage.
At a press conference, CAI’s President Y. Sridhar Rao regretted that while this system of medicine was being promoted by Kerala, Gujarat, Maharashtra and even abroad, it was not being given its due in Andhra Pradesh. Soon, the confederation would chalk out an elaborate plan to improve their status by organisng camps to increase awareness, have training institutions and also conduct exhibitions, he said.
“Neither is Ayurveda recognisd here, nor are there any efforts to showcase its advantages in the State,” regretted K. Lakshmi Prasad, vice-president.
While there were about 475 manufacturers of Ayurveda products, they belong to different associations and hence the need for a common platform that now came to be known as CAI, he said.
The manufacturers were struggling independently and managing an existence by individually having their own modes of marketing, he said. CAI was intended to bring them all together, stay united and help each other to give Ayurveda its due, he said.
Dr. Prasad regretted that the three 100-bed Ayurveda hospitals in Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Warangal were in a state of complete neglect.
