Campaign against illegal taxi cars

Transport Department of Govt. of Telangana has started massive campaign against illegally running taxi cabs in Hyderabad and Cyberabad limits. People are expressing their anger on the alleged rape of a woman in Delhi recently. Govt. of Telangana is making an attempt to make travel by taxi cars safer in the State.

Mr. T. Raghunath, Joint Commissioner of Transport Department told that the licenses and permits given to taxi cabs are being checked in detail. If it is found that the services are not being provided by the taxi drivers as per rules or if there is no valid registration document issued by the Department of registration, stern action is being taken. So far 35 cases have been registered and 7 vehicles have been seized. The staff of Transport Department has been issued instructions to monitor the illegal activities of the transport operators. So far, more than 500 travel companies have registered in the transport department. In Hyderabad and RR District more than 20000 taxi cabs are plying transport daily workers. Mr. Raghunath also told that not only private taxi cabs but also other transport vehicles including Buses and Auto Rickshaws will also be monitored in this campaign.
