Hyderabad, April 12: RTC bus drivers who do not stop at bus stops would be under the scanner from now on.
After many passengers complained about buses not stopping at designated bus stops, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has decided to capture images of violations by drivers.
APSRTC managing director B Prasada Rao on Monday sanctioned 40 cameras to Greater Hyderabad zone so that errant activities of bus drivers could be captured.
“Irregularities during operation of buses like not stopping at designated bus stops, improper display of destination boards, use of mobile phones while driving and rash driving will be captured with cameras,’’ executive director, APSRTC, A Purushotam Naik said.
The cameras will be handled by controllers. “With help of cameras, any irregularities by bus drivers or other staff would be photographed and depot managers will initiate necessary corrective action immediately,’’ Naik said. Officials also said encroachments at bus stops and bus-bays by hawkers and autos will also be photographed so as to help police to act upon such encroachments.
