Stating that the new TRS government, led by K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has miserably failed to enforce total prohibition, eradicate corruption with iron hand and sincerely implement ban on Gutka consumption and smoking in public places even after one year in office, the Telangana Auto Drivers’ JAC called upon all people of the State to boycott Telangana State Formation Day celebrations on June 2.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, Telangana Auto Drivers’ JAC convener Mohammed Amanullah Khan and others said there was no meaning to celebration State Formation Day as the government failed to solve the burning problems of the people in the past one year. Explaining that the criminals need liquor for committing crimes and political leaders need criminals to work as their mercenaries, Amanullah Khan demanded that the KCR government declare total prohibition ahead of the ensuing GHMC elections as liquor plays pivotal role in the elections. He also warned that he would go on indefinite hunger strike with the slogan of “Prohibition or Amanullah Khan’s Death” if the government failed to take a decision to ban the liquor sales.
Stating that there was no change in the style of functioning of the present TRS government and previous governments, Amanullah Khan said despite ban on Gutka, it was available in plenty at all places and people were smoking freely in the public places as there was no action against the violators. He pointed out that heinous crimes were being committed in the society in the absence of prohibition and liquor and toddy were available in plenty. To prove his case for prohibition, Amanullah said one man, under the influence of liquor, sexually assaulted his own daughter recently. In another case, a drunkard murdered his wife and later committed suicide leaving his children as orphans. There are innumerable instances of gory crimes in the absence of prohibition in the State. Technically, the TRS government, which was earning handsome revenue on liquor sales, is the main culprit in all these crimes, he said, adding that KCR’s dream of Bangaru Telangana and his determination for people’s welfare will be a mirage in the absence of total prohibition.
