TRS MLA Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao has suggested to the union home minister Chidambaram that it would be sufficient if party presidents were called for the all-party meeting on Telangana.
Talking to the media at the Media Point in the Assembly, he has expressed anger by stating that the central government had no sincerity in resolving the Telangana issue. If it had, why should it call leaders of both the regions, he has questioned. He has also suggested that it would suffice if party presidents were called. He has demanded that the centre should make it clear if it wanted to concede Telangana or not. Referring to the statement of Chidambaram on the need for an all-party meeting, KTR said it was a gramophone record played too often. Demanding that the central government should stick to his promise of creating the Telangana state, he has alleged that the state government was not even coming forward to allow a debate on the issue. He said this was the reason why the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy kept on getting adjournment of the Assembly.
Referring to the appeals of leaders to the Telangana people to observe restraint, he said it was for the political parties to bow down to the decisions of the people. He has advised Chidambaram to once again look into the Congress manifesto to know what it had promised the people. KTR said they knew how to teach a lesson to the central and state governments.
TRS floor leader Eetela Rajender and MLA Jupalli Krishna Rao have said that the government did not have even the minimum courtesy of condoling the deaths of innocent people in the House. They said they met the Speaker and protested. They have asked the Speaker to permit debate on the issue at least on Wednesday. They have alleged that suicides were occurring because of political parties including the TDP which promised Telangana and went back.
TRS members have staged a dharna at the Speaker’s chambers, demanding a resolution on Telangana. The Speaker has called them in and spoke to them. The Speaker has assured the members that he would meet leaders of all parties at 9-30 am on Wednesday and take a decision on the matter.
TRS MLAs have on Tuesday met Chiranjeevi who was elected to the Rajya Sabha and congratulated him. They have requested him to extend his cooperation for Telangana. (NSS)
