Call center to work round-the-clock: DGP

Director General of Police V. Dinesh Reddy on Thursday held a video conference with the superintendents of police, staff officers, senior police officers, Commissioners of Police of Hyderabad and Cyberabad.

The DGP said that a call center at the State Police Head Quarters will start functioning from Ugadi. The telephone No. 100 will be accessible to all. The call center, headed by an SP rank officer, will also save arrangements at Commissionerates.

He said the calls received from all corners of the State will be voice recorded and communicated immediately to the concerned. Voice will be also recorded, he added. He said the call center functions round-the-clock all the 365 days in a year. Police stations will register FIRs and issue receipts for all complaints.
The DGP said that at all District Head Quarters “Call Centers” will be headed by DSPs, who not only receive calls but also communicate the same to the police officer concerned for taking immediate action. Inspectors would visit all Police Stations under their jurisdictions and review the progress of calls received and send a report to the SDPO, SP and the same will be incorporated in the crime report.

He said the SP of the district shall select one circle and cover all the areas in a year for reviewing the grievances received through “Call Center”. The ADG (Technical receives) and APPA Director will be over reviewing the working of the Call Center till the system is strengthened.

The DGP said “Sub Controls” will be started in all Police Station areas at 3 or 4 places. In urban areas, the sub-controls will be manned in morning peak and evening peak hours. Each Police station will have a Woman Constable or Woman Home Guard. Aspects like Drunk Driving, Rash Driving will be recorded and highway patrolling will be strengthened. Redressed of grievances of women, aged, children should be fast and speedy. In legal cases, the Government Pleaders concerned will be apprised and cases disposed of quickly boosting confidence among public about policing.
The DGP said that SDPOs/SPs should not only review convicted cases monthly, but also incorporate the same in the monthly report, which
will in turn be reviewed by IG, ADDG and DG(L&O) to address the concerned for speeding up the cases at different levels, if necessary.

On all Mondays, all officers should be present at their Head Quarters/Offices/Police Stations to listen to the grievances of public from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm with a break from 1.30 pm and 3.30 pm. The DGP exhorted all the police officers to become role models in sorting out the public grievances for keeping the “Police flag fly high and High” through vision, accomplishment and taking preventive steps.
