Hyderabad, January 07: Congress leaders belonging to the Telangana and Seemandhra regions have refused to react to the recommendations made by the Srikrishna Committee, saying the report needs to be studied fully and carefully. However, leaders of the Congress Action committee For Telangana (CAFT) have welcomed one of the recommendations _ creation of a separate Telangana as it had existed prior to 1956.
Talking to newsmen here, CAFT leaders who included MLAs R Damodar Reddy, Ch Muthyam Reddy, P Kista Reddy and G Venkataramana Reddy, and MLC K Yadava Reddy asserted that the people of Telangana would not accept other than implementation of the statement made by the Centre on December 9, 2009 to initiate the process for formation of a separate state. The people would also not accept the option of making Hyderabad a Union territory. Telangana Congress leaders would not accept any option other than creation of separate Telangana state, they asserted and urged the central government to take steps for introduction of a bill on Telangana in the budget session of Parliament which will commence next month.
Replying to a query, Yadava Reddy said CAFT leaders would meet here tomorrow to decide on their future course of action.
Telangana Congress Monitoring Group (TCMG) convener G Niranjan remarked that the Srikrishna Committee failed to show a specific direction to the government in resolving the decades-old issue.
