Hyderabad: Do you want to take away some freshly brewed hot Irani chai for your family too. Café Niloufer is a place for you. Taking its name from the nearby hospital Niloufer, the café has started to deliver its Irani chai to people in the city.
Since August 15 this year, café Niloufer began delivering chai in smartly packaged containers. Along with this, the café also provides eight disposable cups so that one can have chai on the go.
“We have been in this business for the last four decades. My father, Babu Rao, who started off as a cleaner in the café, took over the management and since then there has been no looking back,” remarks Shashank Rao, Babu Rao’s son.
Speaking about the origin of the new-disposable flask, Rao said: “We have hundreds of customers every day with some coming from as far off as SR Nagar and Kukatpally. I was having a discussion with my father for the past few years on making our chai available to everyone, and not just in our restaurant,” mentions Telangana Today.
Initially, they had plans of starting up different outlets in Hyderabad but fearing dilution in the quality or taste, they refrained from doing so. “Then we decided that we can have the tea packed in a hygienically sealed package so that our customers can take the beverage back to their families. The tea would remain hot for an hour or two, in the disposable flask,” he said, adding that they sell about 100 such flasks every day.
The container is procured from a food-grade plastic manufacturing company in Bengaluru, which is incidentally used by international coffee-chain Starbucks also.
