Cabinet gives green signal for sub-committee recommendations

Hyderabad, August 05: The Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Wednesday gave green signal for many recommendations made by the Cabinet sub-committee on post-metric scholarships and tuition fee reimbursement.

Talking to reporters over the cabinet decisions, Minister for Information and Public Relations J Geeta Reddy said the cabinet approved uniform fee structure to similar courses in the universities.

She also said the government also tightened the issue of income certificates and unique identity cards to students. The Cabinet took a decision not to refund tuition fee to management quota seats.
She said the committee recommended that Deputy Tahsildars be held responsible for issuance of wrong Income certificates.

The tuition fee of SC/ ST/ BC/Minority students would be reimbursed, who joined under convener quota, she stated.

The sub-committee also suggested some recommendations on the self-finance courses, she pointed out.

As per the panel recommendations, 75 percent attendance would be made mandatory to get scholarship facility and tuition fee reimbursement, she added.

Ms Geetha Reddy said that the Chief Minister has turned down the suggestion for setting up a special Directorate of Scholarships as it would create more problems.

The Cabinet has decided to celebrate the first death anniversary of late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on September 2 at Pavuralagutta, Hyderabad and all districts officially. A foundation stone would be laid to YSR Smrithivanam at Pavuralagutta and YSR memorial park in Hyderabad on that day, she stated.
