CAA protest: Students, activists hold rally at Necklace Road

Telangana: Hundreds of  students, activists and senior citizens gathered at the People’s Plaza, Necklace road, Hyderabad, on Thursday. The rally started by 3 PM and peacefully concluded at 4:30 pm.  City police had given permission for the rally for only one hour but extended by half an hour.

Students from Tata Institute of Social Sciences(TISS), Hyderabad Central University, Maulana Azad Urdu University and Osmania University participated in the protest.

Jameel Unnisa, retired professor of Osmania University, said “Our period is over. Now, it’s yours. Do whatever you can in your capacity to save the democracy.

Several years ago we rejected a proposal from Jinnah as it was based on religion. Is there a difference between Jinnah and Modi and Amit Shah?” asked an OU student.

Rafia, an ex-student of O.U shouted Azadi slogans. “Raise your voice before you are silenced forever,” she said.
