Entry and exit at as many as 16 Delhi Metro stations were closed as people, staging protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (2019) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC), gathered at various venues despite massive police deployment and imposition of prohibitory orders.

CAA protest intensifies in Bengal
A large number of students gathered in the heart of the city to protest. Major political parties like the Trinamool Congress, Congress and the Left also organised meetings and processions in Kolkata and other districts of West Bengal.
Holding aloft banners and carrying the tricolour, the students from various universities and colleges assembled at the Ramlila ground in central Kolkata. Many had — “no CAB, no NRC” — written on their shirts.
