NEW DELHI: Jamia on Sunday witnessed massive crowds with scores of people from several walks of life came to Shaheen Bagh to show solidarity with the protesters.
In a show of resistance against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and National Register of Citizens, the protestors had arranged a “Sarv Dharam Sabhava” to highlight unity among religions and communities.
The “Maha Path” ceremony that kicked off at 11 AM on Sunday with National Anthem witnessed traditional Hindu-style ‘havan’ and Sikh ‘kirtan’.
It also saw recital of verses from major religious scriptures of Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism and Christianity.
“Scriptures from the Geeta, the Bible, the Quran were read and Gurbani held. Then the Preamble of the Constitution was also read out by people from varying faiths who are supporting this movement,” said Syed Taseer Ahmed, one of the initial organisers of the protest.

For the last 28 days, hundreds of Muslim women have been braving the chilly winters at Shaheen Bagh area of south Delhi to protest against the controversial new citizenship law.
The “peaceful demonstrators” are demanding the withdrawal of the contentious legislation that sparked outrage across the country.
