NEW DELHI: In a bid to express solidarity with Muslims, hundreds of protesters from Sikh community of Punjab including members of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan), joined the protest at Shaheen Bagh as the resistance against the withdrawal of the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and a proposed pan-India National Register of Citizens (NRC) enters 31st day on January 15.
The Sikh farmers and activists as well as a large number of women who arrived on Tuesday night not just joined to support the women-led protest in Shaheen Bagh at the protesting site but also set up Langar (community kitchen) for them.

The ongoing peaceful protests have witnessed significant participation of thousands of hijab and burqa-clad Muslim women despite the freezing cold.
Last Sunday, on the 30th day of the protest, religious scriptures of Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism and Christianity were recited to highlight Unity in Diversity.
The presence of members of other religions shows that it is not Muslims alone who are against the discriminatory law but all those people who believe in the Indian constitution oppose the fascist ideology.
For the first time in Indian history, excluding Muslims, the CAA seeks to provide Indian nationality to Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Parsis, Jains, and Buddhists fleeing persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh on or before December 31, 2014.
