HYDERABAD: Tension prevailed in Hyderabad after protest broke out at Charminar following the Friday afternoon prayers.

According to the sources, Hyderabad Police detained some of the youngsters protesting outside the Makkah Masjid, Moghalpura and Shah Ali Banda over issues related to the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).

On Thursday, police detained around 50 people protesting outside the Charminar.

Security forces were put on high alert on Friday across the states in wake of the massive protests against the contentious Act.
