CAA-NRC: Kerala on high alert

Thiruvananthapuram: Activists of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and Kerala Students Union (KSU), led protest marches to the railway stations in Palakkad and Thiruvananthapuram respectively, blocked trains at Thursday midnight.

Kerala’s police chief on Friday called for high alert in five districts in the northern part of the state after violence in neighboring Karnataka’s Mangaluru where two people were killed in police firing during the protests against the citizenship law.

The Kerala Police have been directed to maintain high vigil in northern districts of the state. In a Thursday night alert, state DGP D Loknath Behera instructed the force to be on high alert especially in the districts of Wayanad, Kozhikode, Kasaragod, and Kannur, an official statement said here.
