Hyderabad: Four women who underwent caesarian section in Sultan Bazar Maternity Hospital are critical after their delivery, and have been shifted to Gandhi Hospital on Friday. Meenakshi, Mounika, Sadia Begum and Rajitha, were shifted to ICU in Gandhi Hospital due to no post-operative facilities available at Sultan Bazaar Maternity Hospital.
“Their health condition deteriorated after the caesarian sections. Since we do not have post-operative facilities, we decided to shift them to Gandhi Hospital,” Superintendent, Maternity Hospital, Sultan Bazaar, Dr Shailaja said. Health officials fear that sepsis; a common and possibly fatal blood infection could have been the reason for the critical condition of the women.
Senior doctors at Gandhi Hospitals said that the condition of women is critical and they are on the oxygen mask. However, the reports of their blood tests are yet to come.
The postpartum sepsis is referred to be fatal. Bacterial sepsis due to E-coli is the most common kind of infection that occurs among women post c-section.
