Bye-Elections On Sept 13

The Election Commission (EC) of India today announced Bye-elections to three Parliamentary seats including Vadodara and 33 Assembly seats across nine states. The polling for all the seats will be conducted on Sept 13 and the results would be announced three days later on16.

Polling in Vadodara was necessitated after Prime Minister Narendra Modi vacated it, retaining the Varanasi seat. Other two Lok Sabha seats that go to Bye-election will also be held to Medak Lok Sabha seat vacated by TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao after he became the first Chief Minister of Telangana. and Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh. The poll body also announced bye-elections to 33 assembly seats vacated due to a various reasons in Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh.

Announcing the schedule, EC said while filing of nominations will start from August 20. The last date of filing nomination is August 27. The scrutiny of papers will be held the next day on August 28 and August 30 has been decided as the last date of withdrawing from the electoral race.
