B’wood mourns demise of Manohar Aich, India’s first Mr Universe

New Delhi: Some B-Town celebs have expressed their condolences over the demise of bodybuilder Manohar Aich, India’s first Mr Universe in 1952.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Randeep Hooda wrote, “#ManoharAich 1st Mr Universe from India and still a fitness icon passes away at 104yrs of age. #RIP #inspiration.”

“#Legend India’s first Mr Universe passes away at 104..lived a long,simple & healthy life. RIP sir,” wrote Rahul Dev.

Vishal Dadlani reposted ANI’s tweet and wrote, “Manohar Aich-saab was a true Indian hero. RIP.”

Aich, known as ‘Pocket Hercules,’ surrendered to time at his residence in Baguiti, North Kolkata, yesterday, says family sources.

The late Mr. Universe turned 104 on March 17, this year.

At just four feet and 11 inches, Aich was not the tallest of men, but took up bodybuilding and made this his passion during his stint at the Royal Air Force under British colonial rulers. (ANI)
