Mumbai, April 05:A businessman was allegedly robbed of cash and valuables collectively worth Rs 1.25 lakh at gun-point by armed men yesterday even as a tight security was maintained across the city to avoid any untoward incident during the World Cup celebrations.
Vinod Shadatpuri, a businessman dealing in garments who was present at “Just for You Garment”, at Link Road in suburban Khar, was robbed of Rs 25,000 in cash and gold chain and bracelet worth Rs 1 lakh, police said today.
The two accused, one of whom holding a revolver and another carrying a chopper, barged into the shop last night and hit the victim with a chopper on his head.
The victim was also threatened of dire consequences, police said adding that, “They snatched gold chain and bracelet of the victim. Then, they took cash from the counter and escaped from the spot.”
The victim who suffered head injury was rushed to nearby Bhabha hospital and an FIR was registered against unidentified accused in Khar police station, police said.
