Businessman found murdered

New Delhi, November 19: A 64-year-old businessman was found murdered at his residence in northwest Delhi today with police suspecting it to be a case of burglary.

The incident took place at Ashok Vihar Phase-I. The deceased has been identified as Ram Avtaar Gupta. He was found with his throat slit and his legs tied up, police said, adding that his house was also ransacked.

Gupta’s car was found at Bhalaswa Dairy at 10 am and police informed the deceased’s elder son Vijender Gupta, under whose name the car was registered. Later, police and Vijender reached the residence and found its main gate broke open.

The victim owned a tyre shop in Karol Bagh. He is survived by his two sons, who stay in Punjabi Bag, and three daughters. He had been staying in his ancestral house since 1949. His wife had passed away 11 years ago.
