New Delhi, December 16: A businessman who promised higher returns to several investors and allegedly duped them of several crores of rupees was arrested from Press Club of India when he was addressing the media this evening, police said.
The arrested has been identified as Rupesh Sharma (35), who is running an investment firm from Barakhamba Road and allegedly conned several investors including policemen.
He had allegedly closed his office after he failed to repay investors and had gone underground, a senior police official said. He called a press conference this evening to clarify his stand when he was arrested.
Some investors got information that he was addressing a press conference, the official said adding they caught him from there on a complaint from the investors.
After his arrest, around 500 investors gathered outside Parliament Street police station and demanded their money back.
