Business man’s son held for shooting at MLC’s son

Jammu, August 30: Police today arrested son of a leading business man here for allegedly opening fire at a man, who was out on bail in connection with a recent incident of firing at Jammu University premises.

The critically injured Amandeep Singh is son of a former National Conference (NC) legislator.

Police today intercepted a car and arrested prime accused Jitender Singh alias Raju, son of Choudhary Nagar Singh alias Nago, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jammu, Manohar Singh said.

However, co-accused Royal Singh is at large, he said.

The SSP said the duo called Amandeep out of his house in Shastri Nagar area here yesterday and fired on him from point blank range and fled from the scene.

A criticlaly wounded Amandeep was first taken to GMC hospital here and later shifted to Delhi.

Amandeep, son of senior NC leader and former MLC Deepinder Kour, was involved in an incident of firing at Jammu University chamber in which one student was wounded in May.

Amandeep had surrendered before police in July and was released on bail.
