Bushfires under control

Australia, December 10: Two large grass fires that were threatening homoes north of Brisbane have been brought under control.

Nine fire crews and two water bombing helicopters have contained a blaze near Nerangba that broke out about 1pm (AEST) today.

It was burning close to several properties around Marks, Morgan, New Settlement and Callaghan roads.
Meanwhile, a number of properties at Burpengary have been protected, after a fire began burning dangerously close to Lagoon Road.

The fire has now been contained.

Crews will remain at the scene of both fires for the next several hours to completely extinguish the blazes.
