Busch wins at Auto Club Speedway

California, March 27: Nationwide Series Royal Purple 300 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.

Busch used pit strategy to take a late lead and held off Carl Edwards and Kevin Harvick to win his third straight Nationwide race at Auto Club Speedway on Saturday.

The race-winner scraped the wall on his final lap, but that was about the only suspense late in Saturday’s Nationwide Series event.

Busch qualifies eighth and Edwards will start in 18th place Sunday at the NASCAR Auto Club 400 in Fontana. Juan Pablo Montoya gets the pole position, and Denny Hamlin is in second.

Busch has always been aggressive in his six-year career, but he did his best Friday to side-step a new one with Edwards.

Busch, 26, currently drives the No. 18 Mars/Interstate Batteries Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Sprint Cup Series.

Kyle is the younger brother of 2004 Nextel Cup Series champion Kurt Busch.

He is often nicknamed “Shrub” because he is the younger brother of NASCAR driver Kurt Busch, and a small bush is called a shrub.
