Bus runs amok, hits two pedestrians, auto

Hyderabad, April 17: A bus driver, who reportedly suffered fits while driving the vehicle, lost control of the bus and it ran amok, hitting two pedestrians and an auto rickshaw before coming to a halt. The pedestrians suffered grievous injuries.

The bus (AP 28 U 9947) belonged to Vignan Institute of Technology. Hayathnagar police said the bus was on its way to the college at Deshmuk village. But after reaching Guntlur crossroads, Hayathnagar, the bus driver reportedly suffered fits and he lost control of the bus. Suddenly, the bus which was already travelling at a high speed, went amok hitting two pedestrians who were crossing the road. Besides the bus also went on to hit an auto in which passengers were travelling.

“The two pedestrians suffered serious injuries and their condition is said to be critical. However, the passengers in the auto escaped with minor injuries,” Hayathnagar SI S Devender told Express. The bus came to a halt after it hit a wall and got veered towards one side.

Gopi, the driver of the bus, also suffered injuries and is undergoing treatment.

“It is not confirmed whether Gopi suffered fits or not. But some of the witnesses told us,” Devender said.

Luckily, not many vehicles were plying when the bus driver lost control of the vehicle. None of the students boarded inside the college bus suffered injuries.
