Aiming to pay tribute to the Dec 16 gang-rape victim, some NGOs will organise a bus ride from Dwarka to Central Delhi in the national capital on that day.
The bus ride will start at 4 p.m.
The bus ride, being organised by Justice Seekers, Centre for Social Research and ANHAD, right groups activists, aims to highlight the lack of women`s security in the city.
“The bus ride has a symbolic significance as it was on a bus that the horrific incident occurred two years ago,” said a joint statement issued by the NGOs.
A petition on women`s safety will also be sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the day, the statement said.
On Dec 16, 2012, a 23-year-old girl was brutally gang-raped in a moving bus here. The incident shook the nation`s conscience and led to widespread protests. The girl succumbed to her injuries Dec 29, 2012 in a Singapore hospital where she had been airlifted for specialised treatment.
