Zambia: Forty-three people killed in a bus crash yesterday in Zimbabwe, when the driver lost control and plunged into a tree, police said today.
“We have been told that 43 people have been killed,” police spokeswoman Charity Charamba said. “The bus was travelling to Zambia when the driver lost control at a curve yesterday evening,” she said.
As per DH, the accident occurred in the Nyamakate area near the Zambia border. Cross-border coaches usually carry traders from Zimbabwe to Zambia to stock up on wares to sell them.
Last year at least 30 people were killed due to a bus collision along the highway connecting the capital Harare and Bulawayo. The highways are filled with potholes as a result of neglect. Several accidents have happened in the past months.
