Bus catches fire, passengers escape

Nizamabad, October 12: About forty passengers travelling in a Road Transport Corporation (RTC) bus today had a miraculous escape when their bus caught fire after a motorcycle hit its fuel tank near Bhiknur in Nizambad district of Andhra Pradesh, police said.

A 28-year-old software engineer Krishna Chaitanya, who was riding the two-wheeler, died on the spot, they said adding the bus got completely gutted along with the racing motorcycle.

Krishna Chaitanya, a native of Tirupati, worked with a city-based software firm and resided at Sai Nagar here.

Chaitanya along with his five friends were going on different two-wheelers from Hyderabad to Pocharam reserve forest in Nizambad district for a picnic when the incident occurred near Bhiknur, a police officer said.

“Krishna drove fast on his racer bike and hit the centre of the bus on a turn near Bhiknur,” the police officer said.
