In what appears to be the first rape case the city police of Bengaluru have encountered wherein two burqa-clad men raped a 21-year-old woman the last week.
The culprits involved in the heinous crime wore a burqa to conceal their identity.
The two barged into the woman’s house near Lalbagh Botanical Gardens in broad daylight to commit the crime.
The Police investigating the case find it difficult as they do not have any visual or sketches of the accused since the victim cannot provide any visual clues of her rapists because they concealed themselves with veils from head to toe.
According to the police, incident is said to have taken place last week when the woman’s family members were away. Though the front doors and gates were locked, generally the rear door was open.
The accused, which seem to have been aware of this, gained entry into the house from the back door around 11 am, attacked her from behind while she was watching television.
They covered her face with a cloth and dragged her into the bedroom. They gagged her mouth and using dupattas tied both her hands and legs to the cot.
The miscreants beat her repeatedly when she resist. The woman told the police that one of the two men raped while the other assisted him carry out the heinous act. The accused fled the spot after committing the crime.
She was rescued by her brother later who came home in the afternoon. Finding the front door locked and getting no response from his sister, the panicked brother entered the house using the rear door. The brother was shocked to see his sister in such a condition.
According to police, one of the accused must be spurned up by the victim and might be pestering her.They filed a complaint on February 26 and were charged under section 376 of the IPC, besides section 448 of the IPC for trespassing, the police said.
The victim’s statement will be recorded after she recovers from shock.
