Hyderabad, September 30: Burglars struck at ten houses in the city and its suburbs on Monday night and decamped with more than 50 tolas of gold ornaments and over Rs.5.50 lakh.
In all the offences, the thieves gained entry into the houses by breaking open locks of the main doors. Three offences were reported at East Prashanth Nagar in Malakpet, seven other incidents took place in Vinayaknagar, Kallem Yellareddy Colony and Rajarajeswari Colony under the Hayathnagar police station limits.
The offenders targeted only locked houses.
Owners out of town
The thefts came to light when the owners returned home on Tuesday morning and found that their houses were burgled.
The families went to their native places in connection with Dasara and returned to the city on Tuesday morning. Thieves also made an unsuccessful attempt to rob Krishna Reddy’s house in Hayathnagar. Clues team and fingerprint experts were pressed into service to collect evidence from the spot. “We suspect the role of only one gang in all the ten offences,” police officials said.
