Burglars break through shop wall, loot cash

New Delhi, April 01: Burglars broke into a cloth shop in west Delhi and decamped with over Rs.35 lakh in cash kept in a safe there, police said Thursday.

“The burglary came to light Thursday morning at Tayal Cloth House located in KJ1 Block in Rajapuri area in Dabri when the shop owner Khusiram Tayal found one wall broken of the shop broken and cash missing from a safe,” said a senior police officer.

“Tayal’s three sons – Rajesh, Ravi and Kamal, who run the shop, reported that Rs.35 lakhs cash and a 35 gram gold chain kept in the safe had been taken by the thieves,” said the officer.

Tayal’s are also involved in property dealings. “The cash was kept there to make payment for a property they were planning to buy. The burglars managed to find the keys of the safe kept inside the shop and easily opened the safe,” said the officer.

According to police, Tayal’s soms had left the shop around 11 pm Wednesday night for their residence in Vijay Vihar in Uttam Nagar area.

Police have registered a case and launched investigations. No arrests have been made so far.
