Chandigarh, August 09: The bulk of swine flu cases from Haryana have been reported from industrial township Gurgaon while a doctor from Sirsa also tested positive for the virus today.
“Out of 38 positive cases of influenza A H1N1, 33 alone are from Gurgaon while today a doctor from Sirsa also tested positive for the virus,” Haryana’s Nodal Officer for the swine flu cases, Dr Aparjita Sondh told.
She said that the 32-year-old doctor from Sirsa, who is a ENT specialist himself and practices at Fatehabad, had also tested positive after test reports from National Institute of Communicable Diseases, Delhi were received.
Aparjita said that 27 patients had been discharged from hospitals after being treated for the flu.
As many as 11 positive cases were under treatment in various hospitals and out of these eight cases have been reported from Gurgaon, two from Panipat and one from Sirsa.
Two suspected cases have been reported from Panchkula and their test reports were still awaited from the NICD.
From neighbouring Punjab, so far 25 people have tested positive for swine flu, with 13 cases being from Jalandhar alone, Punjab’s Nodal Officer for swine flu cases, Dr Deepak Bhatia said.
He said the last positive case from the State had been reported from Amritsar on July 27.
Chandigarh has so far reported seven positive cases of the flu.
