Municipal Minister KT Rama Rao today called upon the people to participate in the development programs to achieve the goals and address the problems. Conducting “Our City” program here with Minister P Mahender Reddy, Mayor B Rammohan and others he said that the program aims to involve people to achieve growth in the city. KTR directed the officials to take up on a war-footing with publicity the Jalam Jeevam program to increase groundwaters in the city.
He said that a unique program of “Jalam Jeevam” will be started to protect waters in the city that has one crore of people. He said that saok pits will be started to increase ground waters and give time to building owners six months time to follow. The buildings with 300 sq mt space and above should essentially take up soak pits for increasing ground water he said. Stringent steps will be taken against them if they failed to take steps for soak pits in their premises. Owners will be fined and officials will be taken to task in this regard he said. Unless the people actively participate the government,civic body, officials and work agencies cannot complete their task he noted. (NSS)
