Hyderabad, May 20: The Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) on Thursday issued orders to exempt mortgage of a portion of the construction plot of individual residential buildings to the municipality.
Amendments were made to the AP Revised Common Building Rules and accordingly, individual residential buildings (6 mts high and of 300 sq.mts area in case of municipalities and an area of 200 sq.mts in case of municipal corporations and urban development authorities), are exempted from handing over 10 percent of the construction area to the government.
Earlier, one had to mortgage 10 percent of the construction area for buildings proposed on a plot of 100 sq. mts and above, to the municipality.
The purpose behind this was to minimise violations during the construction.
Following opposition to this by public and GHMC corporators, the government decided to amend the rule.
