Building and facilities of Obaidullah Govt. school exemplary for the entire country – Zahid Ali Khan and others

Bangalore: Obaidullah Govt. School located at Shivaji Nagar, Bangalore organized its centenary celebrations in which Mr. Gulam Nabi Azad, Mr. Subodhkant Sahay, Mr. Shahid Siddiqui and Mr. Zahid Ali Khan attended.

The poets invited for Mushaira and other dignitaries applauded the new building of the school and its amenities and said that it is exemplary for the educational institutions of India. If such facilities are provided to the Muslim students their educational backwardness could be eradicated.

After visiting the school building, Mr. Azad while talking to newsmen told that the building of a Govt. school is an emulating model for the entire country. He said that he has seen a Govt. school equipped with all the model amenities which is like a corporate school.

The manner in which Mr. Roshan Baig has paid his tribute to his alma mater is worth emulating. Mr. Azad congratulated Mr. Roshan Baig and Mr. Mohammed Mansoor Khan, MD of IMAK and said that such facilities should be provided to the Muslim students in the entire country. He advised the organizers to extend their services at all India level. He also told that Urdu should be taught in English medium schools.

Expressing his impressions on this occasion, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily, Hyderabad told that there is no dearth of Medical and Engineering Colleges but most of them are devoid of basic amenities. Due to the efforts of Mr. Roshan Baig, the organizers of IMAK provided basic amenities to Obaidullah Govt. School by constructing a grand modern building which is appreciable. He suggested that everyone who is capable of donating money should adopt Govt. schools and cooperate with the Govt. agencies. The need of the hour today is to equip our children with modern education but teaching of Urdu should also be made compulsory in English medium schools.

He mentioned that Telangana State planned to establish 250 minority residential schools in which education would be imparted through English medium and Urdu is taught as a compulsory subject. The standard of these schools would be like any other English medium school.

Former Minister and Senior Congress leader, Mr. Subodhkant Sahay after inspecting the school building told that it is a model for entire country. He said that even if one such school is setup in all the states, the educational standard of the area would be improved.

Mr. Shahid Siddiqui, Editor of “New Delhi” and former Rajya Sabha member termed the building of Obaidullah School as a grand one for which he congratulated Mr. Roshan Baig and Mr. Mohammed Mansoor Khan. He is also a member of Maulana Azad Educational Foundation. He said that a plan has been formulated for the establishment of 220 schools for imparting education in English medium and Urdu as compulsory subject. He promised that he would present the model of Obaidullah Govt. School to the members of Maulana Azad Foundation.

Imam of Jamia Masjid of Bangalore City, Maulana Maqsood Rishadi congratulated Mr. Roshan Baig and Mr. Mohammed Mansoor Khan. He informed that school offers education from primary to high school levels. This year, more than 7900 applications were received for admission out of which 1500 students have been admitted. Approval has been obtained for starting pre-university course in this building.

Noted Urdu poets, Mr. Anwar Jalalpuri, Ms. Lata Haya, Ms. Deepti Mishra, Mr. Imran Pratapgarhi, Mr. Shakeel Azmi and others inspected the building.
Present on this occasion were Prof. M.N. Sayeed, former Chairman of Urdu Academy, Mr. Azizullah Baig and other dignitaries.
