At least three persons were killed when the roof of a building collapsed in the busy Monda Market in Secunderabad. One person is identified as Mohammed Shafi native of Bihar.
The incident occurred when the labourers were carrying out repair works for Punjab Bar and Restaurant in Monda Market.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Officials pressed proclaims to remove debris. So far, two bodies were recovered from the debris. Search is on for the remaining bodies, if any. The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained. Four adjoining shops were also damaged due to building collapse.
Meanwhile, City Police Commissioner A K Khan said that stringent action would be initiated against the hotel owner for violating the building laws.
Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, MLA Sasidhar Reddy and BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya visited the spot.
