Budget unimpressive for Muslims

Finance Minister Mr. P Chidambaram disappointed Muslim community in the union budget presented by him on Thursday. With just 12% there is insignificant increase for Minority affairs ministry in the budget which comes up to Rs 3511 crore. Chidambaram in his speech told that Rs 160 crore has been allotted in the budget for Maulana Azad Education Foundation to reach the target of Rs 1500 crore set in 12th five year plan.

He told that the foundation wants to include medical aid in its objectives. Rs 100 crore will be allocated for this initiative. Waqf board grant in aid has been cut down to 3.18 Crore from earlier 3.2 crore. And allocation for computerization scheme of state waqf board has been slashed down to nearly half by allocating 2.7 crore as against previously allocated 4.5 crore.
