Budget session in Parliament likely to be extended

With several bills pending for approval, the first part of the budget session of Parliament is likely to be extended for two days.

The government is mulling the decision to extend the Parliament as bills including ones replacing Land Acquisition Ordinance, mines and minerals and coal are yet to be passed.

While the bills have been passed in Lok Sabha, they are yet to get approval in Rajya Sabha.

Meanwhile, the bills on mines and minerals and coal were referred to the Select Committee of Rajya Sabha.

The government is likely to extend the budget session for two more days which ends on March 20.

If the ordinances are not converted into bills by April 2, they will lapse.

A meeting to discuss the same was held by the Cabinet Committee of Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) meeting held today morning.
