Budget session likely to be stormy; KCR asks aides to get ready to silence critics

The first budget session of Telangana State is likely to be stormy as the Opposition parties are preparing arsenals to take on the ruling TRS. Major Opposition parties, including Congress, Telugu Desam and BJP have already announced that they would take on the ruling party in the Assembly. Noticeably, to avoid such ruckus and chaos like situation on the first day, the TRS has taken a key decision to introduce budget on Wednesday itself.
After the budget presentation, the House will resume on November 7 with a day’s gap on November 6 to enable the members to go through budgetary allocations. So the House may witness stormy scenes on November 7 when the session resumes, it is said. Major issues that may spark heated arguments between the treasury benches and the Opposition on power crisis, farmers’ suicides, ration cards, pensions and other issues. On the other hand, the ruling party asked the Police department to deploy adequate number of marshals (security personnel) in the House and around the premises of the Assembly to thwart any untoward incidents or protests by the Congress and TDP leaders.
Keeping this in view, the ruling party has geared up to give a fitting reply, it is learnt. As the government is taking up many ambitious projects like Telangana Water Grid, Lakes restoration, rice to poor, Harithaharam for green cover in Telangana’s 10 districts, tiding over power crisis in a couple of years as they got an MoU with Chhattisgarh government signed for 1000 MW power besides other issues.
According to informed sources, the CM asked his cabinet colleagues not to give a chance to the Opposition parties on various issues. The TRS Government, after a prolonged exercise on budgetary allocations to various projects, is conducting the session for about four weeks. The State Cabinet will meet an hour before at Assembly committee hall as a preparatory meeting to the session that begins at 11 am. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao reportedly asked his cabinet colleagues to equip themselves with all details to ensure that they can suitably reply to the queries of the members. On the other hand, the CM directed the Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma to prepare the officials with adequate information for the session that may be stormy. (NSS)
