TDP MLA Mandali Buddha Prasad was unanimously elected Deputy Speaker of AP Assembly.
Immediately after the House assembled today, Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao announced that Mandali Buddha Prasad was elected Deputy Speaker. He also requested the leader of the House and floor leaders of Opposition parties to escort the latter to the Chair.
After Mandali Buddha Prasad formally assumed the chair, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Leader of the Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy congratulated Buddha Prasad for being elected as Deputy Speaker.
Speaking on the occasion, Chandrababu Naidu said Buddha Prasad was a unique leader in the contemporary politics. His services as Official Language Commission Chairman brought special recognition to him, he added.
Y S Jaganmohan Reddy opined that Buddha Prasad would protect the dignity of the House as well as the rights of the members.
Speaking on the occasion, Buddha Prasad said he would extend help to the Speaker in running the House. He requested the member to behave as per rules and procedures and enhance the respect of the House. The ruling and Opposition parties should work with dedication and strive for protection of the interest of the people, he suggested. He opined that the people would elect those who think constructively, to the power.
Mandali Buddha Prasad also thanked the Chief Minister and floor leaders for electing him as Deputy Speaker. Mandali Buddha Prasad worked as minister and Chairman of Official Language Commission in the Congress government. He joined the TDP and elected to the Legislative Assembly from Avanigadda Constituency in 2014 elections.(NSS)
