Buddha meets Chidambaram, discusses Maoist problem

New Delhi, May 05: West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today met Home Minister P Chidambaram and is understood to have discussed about Maoist violence and the ongoing operations to tackle them.

During their 20-minute meeting, the two leaders are believed to have discussed the issue of political support being allegedly given to the Maoists in West Bengal.

The Chief Minister, however, refused to divulge anything about his discussions with Chidambaram.

His meeting came a day after Left MPs in Lok Sabha raised the issue of alleged links between a Minister of State and an arms dealer in Bangladesh, a charge denied by the Minister and his party, the Trinamool Congress.

Bhattacharjee had expressed concern over regular instances of the Maoists carrying out attacks in West Bengal and escaping to the jungles of neighbouring Jharkhand.
