Buchanan to Clarke: Get inspired by Ex-Kiwi rugby skipper McCaw

Sydney, Nov.22 : Former Australian coach John Buchanan has reacted to the criticism by recently retired skipper Michael Clarke, saying that the captaincy role is quite demanding and the former needs to work on it.

In his new book ‘ Ashes Diary 2015’, Clarke claimed that Buchanan had no impact on the team, stating that “even my dog Jerry could have coached” that Australian side to world domination.

Hitting back over Clarke indirectly, Buchanan said that the opportunity to continue to learn the complex roles that comes with leadership is always available and, therefore, the 34-year-old should take advantage of these chances.

Buchanan also insisted Clarke to learn some leadership skills with recently retired New Zealand rugby skipper Richie McCaw.

He said that McCaw led the team to the highest level with a winning record verging on 90%, adding that the latter had also turned out to be an inspiring leader, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Earlier, Australian all-rounder Shane Watson had also described Clarke’s criticism over Buchanan as ‘incredibly harsh’.

Besides Buchanan , Clarke also slammed his former team-mates Andrew Symonds and Matthew Hayden in his book.(ANI)
