Tirupati: In a shocking incident, Jyotsna, a B.Tech student of Sri Padmavathi Mahila Viswavidyalayam, committed suicide in her hostel room in Gayatri Block on the campus today.
The hostel warden, during her routine inspection at around 11 am, found the room of Jyotsna, locked inside and knocked the door. When there was no response, she suspected something was wrong and alerted other staff members. When they broke the door open, they found the girl’s body hanging from the ceiling fan.
As the news spread like wildfire, shell-shocked students gathered before the hostel building in large numbers. Some were seen weeping unable to control their emotion over the tragic death of their friend.
The hostel warden reported the incident to the police.
According to the police, Jyotsna, a third-year Information Technology (IT) student, was the daughter of Srinivasulu, a resident of Dilsukhnagar in Hyderabad.
Though the reasons for the death are not known yet, the victim left behind two suicide notes at the spot _ one to her parents and the other to her room-mates.
“I cheated myself and took the extreme step,’’ she wrote, MR Palle sub-inspector Chandrasekhar told Express.
A case has been registered.
