BSP leader Yakoob Qureshi offers to pay Rs 51 crore to Charlie Hebdo attackers

While the whole world was united in condemning the deadly attack on French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo’s offices, Bahujan Samaj Party leader Haji Yakoob Qureshi courted controversy by announcing Rs 51 crore prize to the attackers.

As quoted in Hindustan Times, he said, “Those who dare insult Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) deserve death.”

Qureshi was previously in hot water in 2006, when he had declared the same amount as a prize for the killing on the Danish cartoonist who had created a cartoon of the Prophet (PBUH).

Security forces launched a massive manhunt for two brothers for the deadly attack in France in half a century which left 12 people dead. Police has issued arrest warrants for Cherif Kouachi, 32, and his brother, Said, 34. The third suspect has surrendered.

Charlie Hebdo has a long history of mocking politicians and poking fun at religions, especially Islam. It was also fire bombed in November 2011 for a caricature it carried on Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
