BSNL eyes revenue of Rs 2,300 Cr this fiscal : CGM

Vijayawada, December 30: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in Andhra Pradesh has set a total revenue target of Rs 2,300 crore from all its services including landline and mobile in the current fiscal, its Chief General Manager (CGM) T N Sudheendra Kumar said today.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the target would be equal to the revenue achieved in the last fiscal.

On property loss of the company in the wake of agitations in Telangana, Rayalaseema and Andhra regions on the separate Telangana issue, he said in Anantapur district in Rayalaseema region, the agitators had damaged certain exchanges and some stores were afffected.

He said due to the ongoing agitations many services of the company were slow and progress of launching BSNL 3G services in Andhra Pradesh were geting delayed.

On the salient features of the 3G services, which would be launched in phases in about 29 cities of Andhra Pradesh next month, Mr Kumar said the 3G service was slightly an advance version of 2G and 2.5G mobile services launched earlier.

He said in 2G service there was mostly voice and 2.5G service was a low data rate service but the 3G service had higher data with more speed and more applications.

Mr Kumar said the data services had got wide range facilities which enables the customer to view movies, newspapers, serials on the internet.

He also said digital, high speed media were available on the 3G and the server would be situated in Chennai.

Mr Kumar claimed the 3G services was very popular and tariff was very affordable for the customers to take the connection as there would be fixed monthly charges for post-paid connection and general plans for pre-paid connection with ”video call”, ”data call” and ”voice call” available in the 3G.

”We are estimating a 100 per cent revenue growth after launching the 3G services as people are technology savy and very inquisitive of new things,” he said.
