Srinagar: BSF today seized two kg of heroin in Ferozepur sector of Punjab even as it asked its personnel to maintain vigil along the border with Pakistan to thwart the activities of smugglers and anti-national elements.
On a specific information, a special search operation was carried out by BSF personnel and two packets, weighting 2 kg, of contraband suspected to be heroin were seized in the area of responsibility of border outpost Dharma at about 9.15 AM, BSF DIG R S Kataria said.
Inspector General (IG) of BSF (Punjab Frontier) Anil Paliwal said keeping in view the vulnerability of the border due to heightened activities of smugglers and anti-national elements, operational guidelines have been issued to all sectors and battalions for strengthening the border domination.
DIG, BSF (Ferozepur sector) R K Thapa said tactical operations are being mounted to foil the attempts of the smugglers and anti-national elements.
