Mumbai, September 10: The BSE Sensex rose 1.4 percent in early trade on Thursday, climbing for the fifth straight session, helped by firmer global markets.
At 9:57 a.m. (0427 GMT), the 30-share BSE index was up 1.41 percent at 16,411.44 points, with 28 of its constituents advancing.
The 50-share NSE index was up 1.38 percent at 4,880.65.
